Facilitating collective action to fight gender apartheid in Iran and Afghanistan, beginning with diaspora communities in Paris.
The objective
The project will interview Iranian and Afghan women of different generations in the diaspora and work with legal scholars, human-rights experts and activists to produce a socially rigorous, internationally validated definition of gender apartheid.

A definition informed by lived experience, international data and expert consultation.
A manuscript and dissemination plan designed for NGOs, policymakers and international bodies.
Research safeguards
All research activities will comply with GDPR requirements and follow internationally recognised ethical principles for research involving human participants, including informed consent, confidentiality and safeguarding. Where relevant, principles reflected in the Declaration of Helsinki will inform the protection of participants’ rights and wellbeing.
Interviews will be conducted safely outside participants’ home countries through a professional research firm to ensure methodological rigour and ethical safeguards.
