Awareness campaigns
Exhibitions, talks and public campaigns that draw attention to human-rights issues in Iran.
About Azadaneh
Azadaneh is a Paris-based collective of scholars, researchers and advocates working to make human-rights concerns in Iran visible, understood and acted upon.
Our story
Azadaneh was founded in Paris in December 2024, born from the solidarity and collective action that emerged during Iran’s Woman, Life, Freedom uprising.
Our founding members first came together at demonstrations, vigils and cultural gatherings, united by a shared commitment to justice and human dignity. From these early collaborations within the Alborz collective, Azadaneh took shape as a new platform for advocacy, support and community.
We bring advanced training from diverse fields to our understanding of social and political challenges. Our work, however, extends beyond research: we organise cultural events, conferences, community campaigns and solidarity initiatives that amplify marginalised voices.
A central part of our work is raising awareness within French society about the continuing human-rights crisis in Iran, particularly the systemic violations faced by women and children.
We collaborate with other organisations and volunteer in joint initiatives to build bridges of solidarity and strengthen advocacy networks across borders.
What we do
Our work connects evidence, public culture and collective participation so that concern can become informed action.
Exhibitions, talks and public campaigns that draw attention to human-rights issues in Iran.
Concerts, art installations and memorials that connect communities and honour victims of injustice.
Partnerships that support policy dialogue, shared campaigns and international solidarity efforts.
Research and grassroots experience presented in public and academic spaces across Europe.
Public engagement
Before and after Azadaneh’s formal establishment, our members contributed to gatherings addressing democracy, human rights and gender equality. These exchanges strengthened the relationships and ideas that continue to shape our work.

Early collective action
The initiatives that preceded and accompanied Azadaneh’s formation established a practical tradition of gathering communities, honouring lives and keeping calls for justice visible.
A public cultural gathering held in honour of the Woman, Life, Freedom uprising.
A memorial for Kian Pirfalak, an eight-year-old boy killed by state violence.
An act of solidarity with Siavash Mahmoudi and others whose lives were taken during the uprising.
The current research and advocacy programme builds on those earlier relationships and forms of collective action.
Several Azadaneh members also contribute to NIKA (Network of Iranians for Freedom and Democracy) and Kavian e.V., supporting campaigns, events and educational programmes while building stronger connections across the Iranian diaspora.
